Building and Facilities

Bierbaum was built in 1962 and was named after a former Mehlville superintendent, Kermit Bierbaum. The school is the largest elementary facility in the district. It is entirely handicapped-accessible, either by ramp or by elevator. Located at the northern end of the district, Bierbaum's spacious campus includes a soccer field and 2 large playgrounds. The building offers large classrooms, in addition to an art room, music room, gym, library and a recently expanded cafeteria.

Curriculum

The curriculum taught at Bierbaum is approved by the Mehlville School District and meets Missouri State Standards. Enrichment programs, tutors, and ESL (English as a Second Language) are available at Bierbaum to enhance the curriculum when appropriate. Teachers and staff encourage all students to work to their highest potential and prepare them to be life-long learners.

Special Education

For students who need special education services, Bierbaum offers a self-contained classroom as well as resource teachers. Also on staff are speech pathologists, a physical therapist, an occupational therapist and an adaptive Physical Education teacher.
